The best beaches of the Albanian Riviera

The stretch of coast below the Llogara Pass is the heart of the Albanian Riviera — a string of white-pebble beaches and clear, turquoise coves backed by steep mountains.

Dhërmi and neighbouring Drymades are the liveliest, with beach bars and crystal water. For something wilder, hike or take a boat to Gjipe, a small beach tucked at the mouth of a dramatic canyon.

Good to know: July and August are busy — visit in June or September for warm water and space. A car makes exploring the coast road far easier.
